2015 Year End and Thank you
To parents, coaches, and players,
We have survived!!! After a record setting winter where we saw numerous snowstorms and some minor disruptions to our schedule we have reached the end of a very successful basketball season. I wanted to write to all of you thanking you for the time and effort that made this program very successful. I also wanted to do a quick recap of our season and again thank everyone for the patience as I endured getting use to a new position and a new school scheduling system.
I wanted to thank each and every one of those people that submitted coaches evaluations. We are in the process of reviewing the feedback and this is only used to help make our program become better and a more enjoyable experience for the kids of Salem. We still ask that if you have not submitted one and are interested in doing so that you still can.
Salem Basketball had a very successful year and a great honor as well. This was the first time that we were able to have more than one travel team at a division and proved that kids love to play at a high skill and very competitive level. I would also like to congratulate both the 7th and 8th grade girl’s teams in winning their respective age groups championship. The hard work and dedication that these girls put in paid off in the end.
Also during championship weekend the 8th grade boy’s team, coached by Jim Bosworth, had a very successful honoree. Anthony Bellomo won the 8th grade Sportsmanship award. This is given by the Merrimack Valley Youth Basketball league and is a great honor. Recipients are honored based on their leadership and sportsmanship both on and off the court. This is a great honor and we are proud of Anthony for his demonstrated leadership and wish him in the best.
Finally, we had a very successful recreation season. I want to thank all the coaches that gave up countless amount of hours to run practices, be at games, and whatever else was necessary to make sure that each and every kid had a very memorable experience. We have championship Sunday coming up this weekend and invite others down to SHS starting at 12:30pm.
In wrapping everything up I wanted to thank those that attended and were part of Salem Basketball’s very first fundraiser that was held at the Blackwater Grill. I want to personally again thank Melissa Bosworth for running the event. I know she could not have done it without the assistance from the committee members. So I would also like to thank all those people that helped with the event. I also want to thank all the travel teams for donating a basket for the raffle. Lastly would like to thank the Bates family and the Martino family for your genourousity and gathering more raffles for the event. Also would like to thank our major sponsor, Santo Insurance for all your support for this event and everything that you have done for the program.
We are always looking for new members to join the board and are always looking to implement new ways of doing things.
